Biography

 

After graduating from the Art University of Tôkyô, Kohei TANAKA started his career in an impostant music company, Victor Music Industry, and then left to the USA to keep on studying music in Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Back in Japan, he started as a composer and sound arranger. Before that, as soon as 1982, he had already started working on Anime, among which some cult series such as Albator 84 or Muscleman. He also worked for Japanese TV channels, composing for TV series.

As a prolific composer, Kohei TANAKA works on at least one project a year in animation, video games, TV or music. Among the most famous Anime for which he composed, let’s mention One Piece, Gate Keepers, Gunbuster, The King of Braves GaoGaiGar, Angelic Layer, Bastard, Gundam and so many more.

He has also worked for video games as the official composer for Sakura Wars, or Tokusatsu and Sentai (Bioman or Flashman).

Some of his music is sung by famous bands such as JAM PROJECT. Kohei TANAKA released his first album in 2008. He also performs with singers such as Junko IWAO with whom he played during a concert on March 18, 2012.
