The video game area - 12th Impact
This year again, the biggest video game publishers met you at Japan Expo 12th Impact. And they were not the only ones: the video game area lived to the rhythm of DDR players’ dancing steps and the cries of gamers trying the latest games or fighting on the associations’ booths!
Loads of exclusivities
Exclusivities were not scarce during the 12th Impact!! The video game stage hosted Dax GINN from Rocksteady studios, who presented Batman Arkham City (Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment). As for Grasshopper Manufacture studios, Shadows of the Damned was highlighted with SUDA51 and Akira YAMAOKA (the video game music guest of honor of the festival), the director and star composer of the studio.
On the booth of SEGA, Sonic celebrated his 20th anniversary! Everyday, the famous blue hedgehog invited you to share his birthday cake and an artist sculpted an ice Sonic. A Sonic hair-styling booth allowed you to get Sonic’s hair style. You could also visit the Sonic museum to go through his history. Dozens of activities were also organized (running track, coconut shy…) and like every year many among you were holding the famous SEGA fans (they’re always useful when the festival’s getting hot!). Last but not least, you could discover and try the new game: Sonic Generations!
Namco Bandai presented exclusively Dragon Ball Game Project Age 2011 with Hiroyuki KANEKO and there were many more guests: Hideo BABA, producer of Tales of, Shuji YOSHIDA, who talked about One Piece Gigant Battle, Katsuhiro HARADA presenting the latest images of the Tekken™ Blood Vengeance film or Hiroshi MATSUYAMA unveiling the new series Naruto.
Also on the video game stage, Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy XIII-2. Nintendo also celebrated an anniversary: Zelda’s, with a dedicated museum. The publisher also showed Solatorobo -Red the Hunter-, whose chara-designer, Nobuteru YÛKI, was present, and the latest Resident Evil or Mario 3DS.
The attendees were also invited to test the latest releases by Ankama who, after the success of DOFUS, presented WAKFU and proposed to enter the universe of the game by trying big Boufbowl tournaments and taking up a real challenge: live rodeo during which many of you fell in a memorable way!!
The greatest French champions of League of Legends, Starcraft 2 and Counter-Strike fought for a place in the great international finals of World Cyber Games on the video game stage of the festival.
Another international competition took place on stage: the European finals for the Tougeki, organized by VERSUS DOJO, with Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition and Blazblue CS 2.
And more video games everywhere!
Associations were more than ready to get you into tournaments with the most challenging gamers or for freeplay with family or friends just for fun! Bushido Impact, Come and Game and Monkeys Unit proposed dozens of games. And if you felt like moving to the best rhythm games, ORGames and DDR Belgium were there, just for you.
Those who felt some nostalgia for oldies didn’t miss APOIL and its vintage games. You could also discover the whole history of video games with MO5.com, from the beginnings to now, to learn everything about your passion!
Amateur video games were also part of Japan Expo with the creators of CnC Stargate Universe showed and let you test the game, which is the project of a group of science fiction and video game fans who made this game which will bring together the greatest civilizations of the Stargate universe.
When talking about video games, Marcus is inevitable! Many among you attended his special show Chez Marcus on the main stage and met him on Nolife’s booth. The bloggers from Press Start Button also met you on their booth.
At last, the main stage highlighted video game music with the Geek Music Show, a show entirely dedicated to video games and lead by the associations DoReMi Game & Cie and ORGames, and Yume Duo who played the classics of video game music to the sound of piano and violin.
