Vovinam Viêt Vo Dao has been created by a people who has struggled history-wide to define and preserve their identity.

Since it has been founded in 2879 B.C. by Emperor Hung Vuong, it has matured slowly and painfully to become a martial art at the crossroad between tradition and modernity.

About the the word Viêt Vo Dao, it must be linked only to the Vovinam style. When the first federation for Vietnamese martial arts was created in 1973, the founders got authorized by the Patriarch Le Sang to regroup all Vietnamese fighting styles under the name Viêt Vo Dao. Since then, in France, this name has been used for all styles. However in Vietnam, Viêt Vo Dao is only dedicated to the Vovinam style.
