Taiko

Taiko is an age-old art which is rooted in Japanese mythology. It is said that its lively beat and the joy it conveys caused the goddess of the sun, Amaterasu Ohmikamiaurai, to light up the earth again.

Since then, Japanese drums are born and put rhythm into religious life and popular feasts. Lately, this art has become a way of art expression which can be seen on stage everywhere in the world.

Awa dance

Awa dance has been practiced since more than 400 years in the streets of Japan during Obon days (the feast for welcoming the ancestors, in August). This dance has evolved since its creation and has become a symbol of both tradition and modernity, Japanese everyday life.

Awa dance is practiced by men, women, children and old people! This is a festal dance that evokes many other ones practiced in carnivals around the world.
