The northernmost metropolis of Japan and the regional capital of the island of Hokkaidô, Sapporo is a welcoming city where each season brings its share of surprises and pleasures.

The indigenous Ainu culture is still present, especially in the names of the city’s streets. The footprint of the pioneering spirit of the 19th century also makes Sapporo different from other big Japanese cities.

Rightly proud of its cuisine that takes advantage of the opulence of the nature surrounding the city, Sapporo is also known for its snowy winters, and accordingly its famous Snow festival which attracts visitors from around the world every year in February.

It is also a dynamic city with a vibrant art and cultural scene during the summer festivals and throughout the year with large parks accented with sculptures.

Discover through a series of pictures the beauty of this city “blessed by snow” in winter and surrounded each season by the splendor of Hokkaidô’s wild landscapes.

This exhibition allows you to discover the beauty of Sapporo, the starting point to fall in love with the beautiful landscapes of Hokkaidô in all seasons.
