The secrets of Samurai armors
After a first time at Japan Expo, Samurai no Kokoro is back on the cultural stage where they show you authentic armors and helmets. The Japanese feudal world and the real life of Samurai from the Sengoku era will soon have no more secret for you.
Five Japanese armors are presented and Samurai no Kokoro unveils the fighting techniques used during battles. This presentation is accompanied by explanations about armors, helmets, banners and armor ornaments.
They propose a game with the public during which the selected people try the armors on.
The making of a Japanese armor
There are only a few armorers left in Japan and less than five of them keep on creating new pieces every year.
Nobumichi ATSUTA, one of those rare masters, started the restoration of Toshie MAEDA’s armor (16th century commander) and is working on the restoration of many pieces and to the creation of new pieces.
He is at Japan Expo and presents the different stages of the making of an armor with daily sessions ending with the presentation of the full armor on Sunday. Everyday, he explains a technique for making an authentic Japanese armor and answers all your questions.
