At Japan Expo

© All rights reserved During the festival, the association Pigments et Arts du monde presents Nihonga/Nikawa-e (Japanese painting/glue painting) and other Asian techniques.

Nihonga, literally Japanese painting, is an ancient art from China. The word is used since the Meiji era, opposed to Yôga, Western paintning. Nihonga is above all a painting technique using pigments made of minerals or earth, and Nikawa (organic glue).

An exhibition is presented on their booth, showing Nihonga, as well as Thangka, canvas painting from Tibet, and Chinese painting. The exhibition also displays Bon-Gem (fake Bonsai inlaid with stones).

You will also attend Nihonga demonstrations and initiations, and the art of Chinese painting!
