Although the Sûdoku contest comes to an end, the Hitori contest is already on! Try again to win your tickets to Japan Expo 13th Impact thanks to your logic.

Hitori ni shite kure is a game of logic come from Japan published for the first time in 1990 in the famous Puzzle Communication Nikoli by the eponymous publisher, specialized in puzzles and logic games.

 

Rules

 

There are Hitori grids of different sizes. Our example considers 36 cell grids.

Each grid has 6 lines and 6 columns, which makes 36 cells. In each cell, there is a figure. The aim is simple: each figure cannot appear more than once in a line and a column.
If you discover the same figure two or three times on a single line or column, cross it out! Easy, isn’t it? Be careful though, to find out the figure(s) which has(ve) to be crossed out, you must follow a number of rules, which makes things more complicated…

• At the beginning of the puzzle, each cell of a grid contains one figure
• The aim is to cross out figures so that a figure does not appear more than once in a line and a column
• A crossed out figure cannot touch the cell of another one: they have to be surrounded by uncrossed figures
• All the uncrossed figures have to be connected to other uncrossed figures so that they make a single piece (you can go over all the uncrossed figures continuously)

If you want to participate from abroad, you are allowed to send your contribution by e-mail at the following address: concours@japan-expo.com. Be careful, contributions by e-mail will be taken into account only for drawing lots.

Frequency: 2 sessions are organized from May 7 to June 5, 2012.

• Session 1: from May 7 to May 20.
• Session 2: from May 23 to June 5.

Contest deadline: the mails sent after June 5^th, 2012, considering the postmark, or the e-mails sent after June 5^th, 2012, 11:59pm (Paris hour) won’t enter the contest.

Prizes and prizegiving
At the end of each session, 3 winners are going to be selected. They will get a free entrance ticket for Japan Expo 13^th Impact each, valid for the day they choose (except Saturday), sent by mail after the end of the contest.

To be rewarded: the first one to send her/his grid, as well as two other drawn among all the right grids sent during the session.
