Who never tried to draw their favorite Manga characters? Japan Expo gives you the opportunity to show your illustrations inspired from the work of Yumiko IGARASHI, the Manga guest of honor of the 12th Impact!
Very typical, the style of Yumiko IGARASHI, the illustrator of Candy and Georgie, influenced many artists and was the source of many people’s passion for drawing Shôjo. It’s your case? Then you have a few weeks to draw your most beautiful masterpiece in Yumiko IGARASHI’s visual world. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to show your passion for the “Shôjo Princess”!

How to take part
You got this: the aim is to make an illustration inspired from the works of our guest of honor, such as Candy, Georgie or Mayme Angel. At the end of the contest, we’ll choose the most beautiful illustrations to be exhibited during the festival!

Theme: Yumiko IGARASHI’s visual style, of course!
Support: the illustration must be made on drawing paper such as Bristol board (160g/m² at least), A4 size or more. It may be color or black and white.
Technical constraints: your work must remain a drawing (not a painting) but any technique can be used: pencil, felt-tip pen, pastel, China ink…

NB: Don’t forget to protect your drawing before sending it! Only illustrations in good conditions will be exhibited!
Don’t forget to write your name, first name, age, e-mail address and address at the back of your drawing!
Contest dates: the contest lasts 3 weeks, from Monday, May 23, to Saturday, June 11. Any participation sent after June 11, 2011, considering the postmark, will be out of contest (but may be exhibited depending on the reception date).
Prizes, Gifts, Prize-giving
Among all the drawings, the jury will choose those which will be exhibited at the festival as a tribute to our prestigious guest. Depending on their aesthetic, one or more may be selected as “Honor fanart”. Their authors will win a ticket for an autograph by Yumiko IGARASHI, to be collected at the Contest Desk (Point Concours)!
They will also get 2 free tickets to Japan Expo 12th Impact (each one is valid for 1 person, on Thursday, Friday or Saturday), sent by mail, after the end of the contest and at least a week before the festival, as well as a special Yumiko IGARASHI gift (offered by Editions Tonkam) to be collected at the Contest Desk (Point Concours).

FAQ
Q.: Can I send several drawings?
A.: Yes, of course! But only one will allow you gifts, even if several of them may be exhibited.
Q.: Can I use computer tools for my drawing?
A.: No… and yes! You can color or improve your drawing with computer tools but must send the hand-made original, even if it’s along with the final computer-made version which is competing (and may be exhibited).
Q.: I already have two tickets to the festival. If I win, can I give my free tickets to a friend?
A.: Of course, there is no name on free tickets.
