to the subtlety and the power of calligraphy
Mayumi IWAGAMI
Demonstration: calligraphy of the angel

Born in 1987, she began learning calligraphy at the age of 6. At 20, she creates her own style of calligraphy with the will of communicating the pleasure of calligraphy to public at large. Now she exposes her art all over Japan and teaches calligraphy to everybody: adults, children and disabled people. In December 2011, she performed in Iwaki, a devastated town in Fukushima prefecture. She also hosts a program on TV where she performs as a calligrapher and a reporter.
Sekka NAKAGAWA
Demonstration: the bond of smiling

She has participated in international cultural exchange, many expositions and became president of the Tsuzuki festival in Yokohama.
Through demonstrations and explanations, Sekka NAKAGAWA wish to communicate the sense of unity and to make the audience smile thanks to calligraphy. She will teach you some basis in calligraphy and Kanji (modern Japanese characters).
Some volunteers will have the opportunity to try calligraphy on stage.
Kuniyo TASAKA
Demonstration: Kotodama art of calligraphy

After getting a degree in Nihon art school, she does research on calligraphy and Japanese language and she is recognized as a high-level expert in traditional culture. She once performs calligraphy on a large scale on stage at the world expo of Aichi in 2005. Kuniyo TASAKA has been really inspired by Osamu TEZUKA and worked on many projects related to his drawings.
With this calligraphy demonstration, she wants to share the spiritual power hidden behind words with the audience. From giant calligraphy works to the most delicate ones, her demonstrations aim at giving joy and power to the audience.
